Will Walking On The Treadmill Be As Effective In Losing Weight As Running Is?
someone told me running (on the treadmill or in general but i only use the treadmill) is bad for your legs and joints, and walking helps you lose weight and get in shape just as much. is this true? and how long should i walk at what speed to lose weight? (im 5′2, 135 lbs, and trying to lose 25 pounds)
Yes and no. When you run you burn more calories faster and your heart rate is in prime fat burning zone. Therefore, you cannot get the same results as running, but you can still burn the same amount by walking. It will take a long, long time though. Running for thirty minutes burns around three hundred calories, but walking for that same distance only burns around one hundred. So you have to walk three times as much to burn that same amount of calories.
Hope I helped and good luck!
