What Is Better For Losing Weight, Sprinting Up Steep Hills Or Longer-distance Running?
I’m trying to lose weight but I don’t know if it’s better to do hill sprints (say 10 sprints in 15 minutes) or longer runs (say 4-5 miles in half an hour)

Half an hour of anything really isn’t enough to make much difference in your weight. Serious runners do some of both (LSD and speedwork), but the reasons have nothing to do with weight loss.
As others have said, go for distance. You’ll build more muscle running up hills, and muscle weighs more than fat. Nothing wrong with muscle, but you’re not necessarily burning off the fat, either. Get a steady pace going and maintain it as long as you can. You’ll last longer, thus burn more calories. It’ll probably be rough at first, but keep it up! You’ll feel better after the first run!
Longer runs are better as the path is relatively stable and your exercise would be more uniform. Hill sprints would be very tough and add more pressure to your heart. You can try hill sprints after you have mastered and regular in your longer runs.
Well doing sprints up steep hills is going to build muscle, whihc wont make you loose wieght because muscle weights more than fat, long distance running will help loose more weight, but if you are talking about looking skinnier or more toned or just overall pendigistateryinterludicule then both
I suggest longer runs running up steep hills my put to much work on your ankle its better to jsut start of slow and workyour way up dont try doing to much at a time..
