In the past: My age: 17, Height: 5′1″, Weight: 125 lbs Clothes size: 12-14
I looked at my relatives. I looked at myself and said, “I’m not going to live the life of a fat woman. Whatever it takes, I’m going to be slender.” Then I cut EVERYTHING out of my diet that wasn’t good for me. I mean everything! Salad dressings, french fries, even ice cream! I stayed active and did do some sports. I always swim and take walks and used to play softball.
The one main thing I did that really, really mattered was this: I didn’t just go on a diet. I made the commitment to change forever; changed my lifetime eating habits. I told myself that I would never, ever, ever eat ice cream again. And when I slipped and ate something that wasn’t good for me, as I was chewing it, I would remind myself “this is making you fatter and uglier.” I would say that in rhythm to my chewing it. That usually helped me to stop eating it right away! lol.
It took two years to get to the correct weight.
Now: Many years and three children later: Age: I won’t tell! Height: 5′ 1″; weight: 105 (at most); clothes size: 4
    P.S. I’m also a vegetarian.

I weighed 220 lbs, in May, this yr, & i decided that was gonna have to go, i ws hurting & swolen.
i went on a grilled chicken salad binge, & from there started grilling or broiiling all the meats, baking or steaming veggies, lots of salads, & no breads, sweets, or fried food, limiting colas to diet, & even them to 1 a day, o r less, since they’re not good fo r you anyway.
my goal was 50 lbs, at least 40 , & ys, by August , i had lost my 40 lbs, & was looking a lot better & felt better too. I’mstill gonna loose that other 10 lbs , & go back to eating right, some sickness & Now the Holidays , are tempting me to eat out more, which isnt the same. after eating rght , the meals at fast food resturaunts make me sick! yuck!
Good lllllllluck to both of us.

    Hi – I’m 40-something 5′8″ currently 170 #.
I read a lot on Mens Health and am on a low-carb, hi-fiber, low-fat (the right fats) diet and I have been exercising at the gym 5 days a week. I do weights M-W-F and I do interval training on the treadmill on Tues-Thurs. I also play hockey twice a week.
I have lost 15 lbs in the past 10 weeks. I like the concept of keeping insulin levels low by avoiding most “white” carbs such as white bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, sugar and eating Hi-fiber carbs only. Lots of vegetables and fresh fruit.
The weight training builds muscle which increases my metabolism and the aerobic training also burns calories which includes fat when you keep your insulin and glycogen levels low.
I’m aiming to lose 10 more pounds. By the way, I eat far tastier food now than in the past when I eat a lot of fast food and I feel a lot better and more energetic. Good luck with your diet!

I am 31 and 5′2 and I am doing Weight Watchers…I started Jan 8th of this year and to this date I have lost 30 pounds!!!Weight Watchers really does work…I had tried MANY MANY other diets and pills before but this time I found something that works and stays working! I go to my weekly meetings and I use the Etools online. With Weight watchers you can eat pretty much what you want..you just get a set amount of points a day you can use..so you have to Decide wisely what to eat and not eat! You can have that Snickers candy bar..but is it worth the 8 points???

I lost like 65 lbs by using herbal magic. I am a student 23 when I started the program, it took me about 9 months and I increased my weight loss by exercising. It was mostly the food and how much you eat; salads, low fat, no sweets, chocolate etc., small portions, and an all around diet from all food groups. Being students there is not a lot of exercise, so keep the calories down, to lose about 1200 – 1500.

I am a 20 year old college student. At my highest weight, I was 254 pounds at 5′6″. Now, I am in the process of losing it; I am at 203 pounds, and would like to drop about 50 more pounds (yay! halfway there!). I’ve been losing weight for about a year.
The loss has been really gradual; I have tried extreme dieting before, but always gained any weight lost back. In fact, this time around, I wasn’t even really aware of the fact that I was losing weight, and that’s why I think I’ve been successful.
The whole reason I began to lose weight–and effortlessly–was because I changed my lifestyle for different reasons. I went to school in the city, where I’ve been forced to stop depending on cars and walk; I’m also a student living on a budget, so I don’t have the money to spend carelessly on food. I also was diagnosed with ADD in my freshman year of college and started taking medication for it, which has a reputation of curbing your appetite.
I have filled my schedule with things to do–classes, an internship, a part-time job and sketch comedy–so that I don’t really have time to sit around and eat.
I know these life choices are hard to mirror, but the point is that my weight loss was about changing the kind of life I lead because I wanted to, not because I was forcing myself. Find things that take up your time and you’ll be so constantly running around that any extra pounds won’t be able to stick around.
Good luck! I hope this helps.

i stopped driving my car altogether, and got around by walking, or using public transport. I lost 10 kilograms in two months. life can be more cumbersome without a car, but it really does help to get rid of the weight. walking around is a nice change from driving too.

I stopped drinking pop 7 years ago and lost 20 pounds within 2 months from it. I still don’t drink the stuff because I don’t want to add that weight back on.

Was 95Kg. (210Lbs) Wanted to be 80Kg. (175Lbs)Process wouldnt stop until I got to 70 Kg.(155lbs) This is how:
Stopped drinking sweet drinks and drank water only always.
Walked 45 minutes per night. Fast paced walk not a stroll. Ended up taking 30 minutes to do same walk.
Dont each cakes or cookies anyway so nothing to cut out there.
    Took 1 month to drop 12Kg. (26lbs)
Continued walking and reduced beverage restriction.
Weight continued to drop off, I went back to old habits to bring back up to 80 kgs.
I found this very simple and have always used this most basic system to alter weight. Important to stick to water only and maintain a solid pace when walking. If you are particularly unfit, take breathers as you walk. Dont overdo it.

I started dieting and exercising regularly a couple months before my 18th birthday. I worked out and tried to lose weight before then, but didn’t really kick it into gear until the beginning of 06. I got a gym membership and started going 4-5 times a week. I think the best way to start off a diet is by being very restrictive at first, to help shed the weight in conjunction with the exercise. I do a mixture of intense cardio, we’re talking real sweat, and lots of weight lifting. I am not bulky and my muscles don’t look like a man! Don’t be afraid of weight lifting! It’s the fastest way to burn fat all over your body in conjunction with your diet and cardio, guaranteed. My heaviest was about 210 and I now weigh 175, standing 6′0, so that’s a good weight for my body type. I have maintained this weight for about a year now and still work out regularly and watch what I eat, but do not diet as harshly.
I’m in the best shape of my life, but I still want to loose another 10 pounds in the next 6 months.
I am currently a student and I have two jobs, one full time and part time, so I am a busy girl! I have designated workout days and I just plan around it! I go right to the gym after classes and keep on top of my homework when I get home. It’s not impossible you just have to force yourself to set a schedule. It’s a lifestyle change! Sometimes I have to say no to things so that I don’t miss a workout or skip calorie filled lunches and dinners. I don’t starve myself, but everything needs moderation!

I gained 60!!! pounds during my second pregnancy ~ three months on bed rest being brought all my meals.
After I had my baby I weighed 168. He was very sick and required a number of surgeries his first year so I didn’t focus on my weight at all, but just tried to eat reasonably healthy while I focused on him. I lost 30 lbs in about 4-5 months.
As he because healthier I took him for walks in the stroller and lost another 10 lbs, over another few months. I stayed at that weight about a year. For the final 20 pounds it took a little longer, I actually watched my food intake and kept it to 1400-1600 calories a day. I still could not get out much, but whenever I could I got a little exercise in. I lost another 10 pounds over three months and sat at that weight for about a year. Finally, he was big enough and healthy enough that I could start exercising again regularly. I lost another 10 pounds with running and weight lifting.
I’ve kept it off about four years, but just recently gained about six pounds since summer, as I had cut down on exercise due to a bad injury. I’m healed so am back at building up my fitness again.
To lose/maintain weight I run a few miles about four times a week and bike commute. I also LOVE to life weights at least once a week but it is not practical for me for another few months.
I also don’t like to use the word diet, but will keep track of my intake from time to time to make sure I eat too much.
Summary: 60 pounds lost over about three years. Maintained four years and counting.
