I Am On A Diet Losing Weight At 1000 Calories A Day, And I Am About 100 Lbs Overweight. Is This Bad?

My friends and family are all concerned that I am not eating enough(probably because I was anorexic 10 years ago), but I think this is fine and healthy for now. Everyday, I get up, have a protein shake with 50 grams of protein, then eat a lean pocket and half serving(27) of goldfish crackers for lunch at 11:30, then eat another half serving of goldfish crackers at 2:45, and for dinner at 5:30-6pm I eat a quarter pound turkey burger with a lot of hot pepper slices and 2% milk cheese on a lowfat burger bun. Plus I drink about 3 liters of water per day and have a multivitamin. Is that bad?

I am also on a 1000 calorie diet set up with the help of my doctor and my nutritionist. The only thing you might be lacking is enough frut, veggies, and grains. Also, I would suggest adding exercise if you dont already. My diet looks like this:
Breakfast- 1 egg, 1/2 grapefruit, 1/2 cup whole grain cereal with skim milk
Exercise at the gym for 1 hour
Mid morning snack- 1 cup of grapes
Lunch 2 slices of turkey sliced deli thin, 1 cup of raw veggies with low cal ranch dressing
Afternoon snack- 2 cups air popped popcorn
Take a walk with the kids
    Dinner- Lean Cusine
Play outdoors with the kids or rollerblade
    Evening snack- 1/2 cup Sherbet

(**Don’t pay any attention to those “cleansing” spammers.)
Yes, it is bad. You should be eating at LEAST 1,200 calories a day. Not only that, what you are eating is HORRIBLE. No wonder you are 100 lbs. overweight. Goldfish crackers? Are you kidding me? JUNK FOOD. So are the Lean Pockets. Get rid of them and eat REAL food. Where are your vegetables? Fruit? Whole grains?
You’re on a 1000 calorie diet of crap. You need lean protein, vegetables, whole grains and fruit. In that order. Each meal needs to be around 400 calories. If you eat the right things, that is a LOT of food.

Instead of 2 big meals a day. Eat 6 small meals a day. Your motabolism will be better then. Cut down to skim milk cheese if you need cheese. Get rid of the lean pocket. Microwave/instant food is not good for you.

As long as your body does not feel hungry it sounds like you are on the right track. I did not see anything about working out but I would probably also try to incorporate some extra activity as well. Also, try this website sparkpeople.com. I absolutely love it.
    Good luck!

I agree that cleansing can be good, but not everyone has the makeup for it. I don’t believe you are getting enough calories, but you should consult a doctor. If I were you though, I would eat a little more calories and exercise. You have to exercise.

no that is not bad, you didnt specify how long you had been on the diet, but that sounds like you are eating healthy to me, if you want to lose the additional weight you should include workout in your routine.

parts of your diet are atrocious, first off you NEED fresh fruits and vegetables along with fat free dairy such as dannon light and fit yogurt. If you are a male you need at least 1500-2000 calories a day, if a female 1200-1500 per day, if you don’t take in at least the required amount your body will go into starvation mode and you will lose muscle vs. fat. Start with a high protien breakfast to include oatmeal, special k, wheaties, or similar cereal, a serving of fresh fruit, and yogurt or wheat toast. make breakfast the biggest, most important meal of your day. for lunch, stick with low cal low fat, salad and fish, ham on whole wheat, or campbells fat free soup.
For dinner, eat EARLY before 6pm and I stick with weight watchers or lean cuisine, they are properly proportioned and low in fats and calories, snack on fat free goodies such as air popped popcorn, i spray it lightly with olive oil and molly mcbutter, energy bars, fresh fruit, or veggies or yogurt.
Make sure your exercise routine burns at least 500-900 calories a day and reward yourself by taking one day off per week.
Good luck to you in your weight loss endeavors.
