Can I Lose Weight By Running On The Treadmill Everyday?

I need to lose about 30lbs by June 29th. I have been eating less calories and cutting out sugar from my diet. I have been running on the treadmill everyday for an hour and am not sure if this will help me. I was meeting with a trainer for strength training but I ran out of sessions and can not afford to go back. Any suggestions for faster weight loss?

Well, you’re looking at close to 2lbs a week which is a pretty quick weight loss, but not outrageous.
If you want to lose 2 lbs a week, you need to be burning about 1k calories more then you consume per day. I burn about 600 calories in 30 minutes on a treadmill, but I’m probably bigger then you. That’s running about 3.5 miles in 30 minutes.
If you’re pretty heavy, running an hour plus a diet that would be breakeven without exercise might do it. If you’re closer to most women’s size, I’d guess you’d still need to eat slightly less then you’d burn without the running.
It’ll help for sure, keep the running up.
Keep the sugar out of your diet. Cut fried food too. You don’t want to overdiet or your body will go into shutdown mode, try to just eat controlled portions and make sure you’re eating a balanced diet. Most of us are eating too many carbs, not enough protien and vegetables.

A treadmill is a great start, I would consider also checking out some circuit exercise routines. Are you on a strict diet plan also, this is a critical part of getting the pounds off…go to http://fiberdiet.info you can compare the three top diet plans side by side and also use their body mass calculator to determine what your healthy weight should be. Hope that helps.

It definitely should help. Can you afford some at home dumbbells? Weight training is a good idea to add so you can build muscle, you need to be careful to lose fat not muscle. Losing muscle will make it seem like you are losing weight fast because it weighs more. Muscle is a good thing!

Try more short and intense workouts if weight loss is your goal. Long runs are good for endurance, but your body shuts down and goes into conservation mode during them. Once it realizes that your going to be running for a while fat burning pretty much stops. Go for the hour long run once a week. Other days do intense bursts of excercise for 12-15 minutes. So say you run 2 miles as fast as you can, or do sprints at a track. These are better for weight loss. Also, keep lifting weights. There are plenty of websites with free weight lifting advice. Lifting will keep your metabolism high and your body burning calories even during inactive periods.

You are on the right track. I lost 40 pounds doing Weight Watchers online, plus treadmill, weight training, and walking to and from work (four miles a day). That and persistently watching the fat intake, and increasing the fiber, worked a miracle. A mindset helps, too. I had the attitude of a thin person! You have 127 days to do this and that’s plenty of time.
