i had the same problem. try checking on the mens health website (link below). my general tactic is that muscle weights 3 times that of fat. so have a high protein drink and go for a run, then lift some weights. after that have something high in carbohydrates, like pasta or rice. this will cause a slow release of energy that will keep your body going, i worked on the fact that any excess energy will turn straight to fat, so while my slow release food is digesting i snacked on high energy food (like chocolate). this i repeated daily, i managed to put on a stone in a year.
I hope this helps, putting on weight can be hard
the best advice i was ever given is not to use steroids, they mess you up badley!

You could try drinking some protein shakes in between meals, I know at my gym we do a protein supplement called ‘Mammoth’ And this is for people who want to gain weight/muscle.. Apparantly it tastes like McDonnalds milkshakes so must not be bad if you want to gain weight :)

Frankly, it’s actually way more difficult to gain weight than to loose it. I think that the best way is to eat like you’re used to, but supplement some protein products to your diet. People who want to loose weight eat it instead of their normal food, people who want to gain should eat it in addition.

It is not rocket science !
Just eat 10 – 20 % bigger portions each meal and monitor progress.
Maintain a varied and balanced diet (it is not neccessary to eat any specific foods like starch or meats etc)
Adjust up or down depending how your weight changes (or not)
