you need instant energy for walking too… i would say running
walking is definately better, i think
i would never start running right away
first walk, job and then run & dont forget to do stretches.

walking is much better for your back and probabley for losing weight if youre walking quickly
It all depends on what level of difficulty you are going to do on each.
Generally speaking, walking is better for your knees and back while running is quicker to build your cardio endurance.
Which ever one you will do harder is the one you should do, for example if you will run 15 minutes compared to run 30 minutes then walk.
